APEX RIDING ACADEMY
APEX RIDING ACADEMY
If you've been thoroughly enjoying your lessons and time at Apex Riding Academy, it might be the perfect moment to elevate your experience. Why not become a part of our Academy Show Team? It's an exciting way to connect with fellow equestrian enthusiasts while challenging your riding abilities through competitive events. This program is open to riders of all ages, with four key shows lined up throughout the season.
The Academy competition is designed with three primary aims: to provide riders with an affordable opportunity to experience the thrill of horse showing, to generate fresh interest in the show horse industry, and to motivate students to enhance their riding skills. These competitions take place off-site, but don't worry. Apex Riding Academy will provide the horses and all necessary equipment for the shows. Our students are granted the chance to ride the lesson horses that our instructors deem to be the best fit for each rider, allowing for a high-quality show ring experience
As an academy student, you are required to register for a minimum of two lessons each week - one group session and one private session. Group lessons offer a comprehensive learning environment as they allow riders to learn from their own experiences as well as observe and learn from the actions of fellow riders. This mimics the show arena's group setting, providing a more realistic practice environment.
Private lessons, on the other hand, provide an opportunity for focused, one-on-one learning. These sessions are highly beneficial for enhancing your riding skills, as the instructor's attention is solely dedicated to you.
We highly recommend adhering to this schedule from September through April, which aligns with the academy's show season. This format ensures that you are well-prepared and confident for the competitive events.
To participate in the show, you'll need to acquire a suitable show outfit. You have the choice of either opting for custom-made attire or selecting from a range of pre-made options that we can guide you towards. We offer some items for lease, and if necessary, we can assist you in finding gently used show attire. However, any chosen outfit must be approved by either Julie Daniel or Kasey Moffat. Essential items for Academy riders include jodhpurs, long-sleeve shirts, ties, vests, boots, riding gloves, number magnets, hair bows, and a show helmet with a cover.
In addition, riders are required to have their own stirrup irons and leathers. For details on ordering these items, please consult with your instructor.
